Terms of Use
For the educational websites and resources provided by Dr. Ijezie-Desbois, including drijezie.com and The Scholar's Ascent.
Last Updated: April 12, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
Welcome! By accessing and using this website and its resources (including the Parent Corner, Scholar Hub, Cursive Command Center, and Emerging Bilingual Hub), you agree to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use this site.
2. Intellectual Property Rights
All content, materials, and assets on this website—including but not limited to text, graphics, PowerPoints, guides, interactive tools (like the Cursive Hub), logos, and the "The Scholar's Ascent" brand—are the exclusive intellectual property of Dr. Ijezie-Desbois and Reminiscent Road Media LLC, operating under Ascendant Road Holdings LLC. These materials are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
You are granted a limited license to use these resources for personal, non-commercial, educational purposes only. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from any content on this site without express written permission.
3. Use of Interactive Tools
Our interactive modules — including study tools, practice activities, and the Scientist's Arcade — are provided for educational practice.
- These tools are provided "as is," without any warranties of performance or outcome.
- Any progress saved within these tools is stored locally in your browser. Clearing your browser data will erase this progress, and we are not responsible for any lost data. Assessment data (scores, responses, and grading records) is stored in cloud databases secured by Google Firebase, with encryption in transit and at rest.
- The Scientist's Arcade stores only pseudonymized gameplay data (player alias, class period, and scores). No real student names are stored in the game database.
4. AI-Assisted Content, Tools & Assessment
AI-Assisted Website Development. Portions of this website — including educational games, interactive study modules, and digital tools — were developed with the assistance of AI-powered development tools. All AI-assisted content has been reviewed, tested, and approved by Dr. Goodluck Ijezie-Desbois to ensure educational accuracy and alignment with applicable curriculum standards.
AI-Assisted Assessment Grading. The Scholar's Ascent Assessment Center uses AI technology to assist with grading written and essay-style responses. This includes:
- Rubric-based scoring of written responses, where AI assigns a preliminary score and provides brief feedback.
- Generation of assessment questions aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards and the curriculum adopted by the educational institution in which the platform is used.
Important safeguards:
- Multiple-choice questions are graded by direct answer-key comparison — not by AI.
- All AI-assisted grades — including multiple-choice, written responses, and essay evaluations — are audited frequently for accuracy and are always under active improvement.
- The teacher retains full authority to review and override any grade at any time. AI serves as a grading assistant, never as the sole evaluator.
- AI is not used to profile, categorize, or make behavioral or disciplinary predictions about students.
Curriculum Alignment. All assessment content — whether teacher-authored or AI-assisted — is designed to align with TEKS standards and the scope and sequence of the educational institution's adopted curriculum. Questions are reviewed for rigor, accuracy, and grade-level appropriateness.
5. Assessment Integrity Monitoring
The Scholar's Ascent Assessment Center includes academic integrity monitoring features designed to maintain fair testing conditions. These features are comparable to those found in Google Forms locked mode and other standard educational assessment platforms.
Monitoring may include:
- Tab-switch detection (recording when a student navigates away from the assessment window)
- Keystroke timing analysis (detecting anomalous input patterns such as bulk paste events)
- Paste detection (identifying content pasted from external sources into response fields)
Important safeguards:
- This monitoring is used solely for academic integrity purposes and is not used for behavioral profiling, disciplinary predictions, or any non-educational purpose.
- All integrity data is reviewed by the teacher before any action is taken. Automated flags are advisory only.
- No screen recording, webcam capture, or keystroke logging of content is performed.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Student assessment data is retained for the duration of the current school year. At the end of each school year, data that is no longer educationally necessary is archived or deleted in accordance with applicable records retention policies.
Parents and eligible students may request deletion of their student's data at any time. In accordance with Texas SB 820, deletion requests will be fulfilled within 45 days of receipt.
To submit a deletion request, contact Dr. Ijezie-Desbois directly via the contact information provided on this website.
7. Texas Law Compliance
This platform is designed and operated in compliance with applicable Texas education and student privacy laws, including:
- Texas Education Code Chapter 32 — Student data privacy requirements for educational technology used in Texas public schools
- Texas SB 820 (2023) — EdTech vendor obligations including data minimization, prohibition on monetizing student data, deletion upon request, and restrictions on targeted advertising using student data
