Here's exactly what The Scholar's Ascent Learning Portal collects, what it never does, and the choices you control โ no legalese.
Every piece of school work is saved under a class alias (like "SwiftFalcon42"). The list connecting names to aliases stays with your child's teacher โ it is never uploaded to us. Even we, the people who run the platform, cannot look up which student is which. That's built into how the system works, not just a promise on paper.
Every question and practice item is TEKS-aligned and follows the district math curriculum. The portal is a tool to help scholars practice ahead of time and see their own progress โ the classroom teacher and the school gradebook remain the authority on grades.
Guardian access is optional and read-only, scoped to your own scholar. You can unlink, unsubscribe from the weekly summary, or request deletion of your guardian account data at any time. When a scholar leaves, the guardian consent record is retained for 30 days after departure and then automatically removed unless a legal hold applies. School-controlled education records follow the school's verified direction and are handled separately.
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is logged on a tamper-evident audit trail, and year-end records are archived or deleted on a documented schedule. The service is designed to support schools' obligations under FERPA, COPPA's school-authorization model, and applicable Texas student-privacy law.
